Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about business setup in Ajman: free zone and mainland licences, costs, visas, branches and offshore companies.

Getting started

Choose your activity and jurisdiction (mainland, free zone or offshore), reserve a trade name and get initial approval, prepare your documents and office, receive your licence, then apply for visas and open a bank account. We handle each step and tell you exactly what we need from you.

If you’ll sell directly to UAE customers or bid for government work, choose mainland. If you want the lowest cost and simplest setup, choose Ajman Free Zone. If you only trade internationally or hold assets, an offshore company may be enough. We’ll recommend the right fit in a free consultation.

An Ajman Free Zone licence can be issued in 1–3 working days once documents are in. Mainland companies usually take 2–4 weeks, and foreign branches 1–3 weeks after attestation. Visas take another 2–4 weeks.

Free zone packages start from around AED 5,500. A mainland LLC usually costs AED 24,000–50,000+ in the first year, including office rent. We give you a clear, itemised quote upfront.

Yes. Free zone and offshore companies are always 100% foreign-owned, and on the mainland most commercial and industrial activities now allow full foreign ownership too.

For a free zone or offshore company, most of the process can be done remotely. You’ll usually need to be in the UAE for visa medicals, Emirates ID biometrics and meeting the bank.

A Free Zone Establishment (FZE) for a single shareholder, a Free Zone Company (FZC) for two or more shareholders, or a branch of an existing local or foreign company.

Zero-visa and freelancer packages, usually with a flexi-desk included, start at around AED 5,555 to AED 7,000. The price goes up with the licence type, number of activities and visas.

Every AFZ company needs a registered address, but a flexi-desk or co-working space is enough for most licences. Executive offices and warehouses are available if you need them.

For most service and commercial packages, no deposit proof is needed. A share capital figure is written into your incorporation documents, but AFZA usually doesn’t ask you to deposit it.

Your licence can be issued 1–3 working days after documents and payment. Once you have your establishment card, residence visas typically take another 2–4 weeks.

Not directly. To sell goods on the mainland you work through a registered local distributor or agent. If you mainly serve UAE customers, a mainland company may suit you better, and we can help you compare.
